Well we can hardly believe it but we have been on Avventura for a full week now!  We left KC on Jan 4 and flew to Brunswick, GA where we had left her in early October.  We took a day to unpack and provision, then set out on our long trip down the Intracoastal Waterway to Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  Our ports of call so far: Jacksonville Beach,  St. Augustine, where we spent an extra day even though the temps were in the 30's, Daytona Beach, Titusville, Ft. Pierce, and North Palm Beach tonight.  We left the ICW at Cape Canaveral yesterday and went out into the ocean intending to do a 20 hour passage all the way to Lauderdale, but after 8 hours of very rough seas we ditched out at Ft. Pierce for the night.  The ocean state is not improving for several days so we are resigned  to picking our way down the ICW  despite the many bascule (draw) bridges that only open at certain times and the occasional very shallow water which causes us to run aground.  Rob has gotten quite adept at getting us off of shoals!  No one ever said boating was convenient or a quick way to get from one place to another .

Highlights of our trip so far include many dolphin sightings, including several who have swum along with us for extended periods, attending worship at a gorgeous Basilica style Presbyterian church in St. Augustine, a delicious dinner at a very old Spanish restaurant  and increasingly warm weather - today I actually put on a swim suit and got a start on tanning my Kansas winter white skin!  Here are a few pictures of our journey so far:

Unpacking, washing the boat, biggest Wal Mart bill EVER!

Auspicious sunrise departure from Brunswick on Jan. 6, also Rob's birthday.
